The following video mentions Hexavalent Chromium production happening as a byproduct of HHO experiments using certain chemicals. You could be endangering your self and your community if you expose your self or dump the chemical down the drain. Please take all safety precautions and employ proper disposal methods.

We need to find a way to prevent this from being produced in the first place or a least an affective way to neutralize it.

Lets make this priority!

This from the OSHA site: Workers who breathe hexavalent chromium compounds at their jobs for many years may be at increased risk of developing lung cancer. Breathing high levels o hexavalent chromium can irritate or damage the nose, throat, and lungs. Irritation or damage to the eyes and skin can occur if hexavalent chromium contacts these organs in high concentrations or for a prolonged period of time.
Now, that sounds like it's not immediately carcinogenic, but rather an enviornmental problem, but one thing occurs to me before we dismiss it: Most of us tinkerers, mechanics, hobbyists or construction people have cuts, scrapes or whatnot on us. This is equivalent to direct ingestion on contact and that can't be good with this stuff. We think of the mist or steam from our Jennies as harmless water, but perhaps not.
I would like to know how true this really is.

OSHA's site says "Hexavalent chromium can also be formed when performing "hot work" such as welding on stainless steel or melting chromium metal."

We are hitting no where near those temps.
Yeah but chromium is added to Iron to make Stainless steel. So we might be breaking that molecular bond by running electricity through it. I'm not sure temp would matter in that case.
This seems to me like a major concern. My Question is: Does the Hexavalent Chromium leach out of the stainless because of the caustic nature of the electrolyte and electricity through the metal? Or is it just the fact that we are running current through the stainless in water? In other words will the stainless still leach Hexavalent Chromium if we are using plain tap water and no additive electrolyte? If it’s the electrolyte causing the stainless to leach Hexavalent Chromium then we should all be working towards the right electronics to use plain old distilled water with 316l. Does anyone here have a way to test our water for levels of Hexavalent Chromium in the electrolyte? Does anyone here have a system that uses plain distilled water? I know that's what I'm working for in my cell. {OK Rant Over} ;P
I recall reading an aticle by a chemical engineer from Tulane U that claimed sugar would neutralize this. Now if I could only find that article and post it here.
Hello, will baking soda create Hexavalent chromium with ss wall switch plates? What if you add sugar to the to the hydrogen process will this rectify the problem?

I cant answer that, but the soda makes carbon monoxide.
I'm told baking soda will turn to NaOH after awhile.
very true about the carbon with the soda, seems not to widely known, mention it often

as far as the hexocroma, is there any work done on the abundance post combustion??? I can see the harm in testing but with and gas (mainly if they go boom) good ventilation is a must
I have seen this video b 4 and it got me to thinking about the ss issue. And even now I am trying to recall in my short memory what material we used onboard the submarine for this process and if there were any by products produced. but that was 10 + yrs ago. maybe I will be able to recall what it was or find some unclassified info on it. of course if it is classified info I am obligated to NOT share the INFO. sorry I signed an Agreement on what I know and unfortunatly cant remember.

I will post on the issue as soon as I find out.
"Loose Lips Sink Ships" motto US Navy. A lot of this info is declassified now and may be found at commerical web sites by Googling. Happy rabbit trails!

Did you drink the entire pitcher of beer at one time to get your "dolphins" or has that traditional be cast asisde?
