After reading about this unfortunate event I couldn't help but notice the first comment following the article and I must say it was rather offending in nature if you ask me. So in response to this comment I wrote the person who wrote the comment this;

In response to your thoughts on the California man killed doing research and I quote;

Dangers of Research

On June 18, 2010, New Energy Congress member, Ken Rasmussen wrote:

BP is not the only organization to put profit motive ahead of safety. Thank God the company at least was located in an industrial area. Sadly, the reality is most electrolysis inventors work in garages
and basements, exposing family, friends and homes to this very same
hazard.

I have been on this tirade for several years now. And prospective
investors just don't get it, and probably still won't, even after this
tragic death. R&D is expensive and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. And not
just with hydrogen. ANY form of energy, when pushed to its theoretical
limits, if you stop and think a moment, has never been controlled at
that level. Many of us flippantly use the term "Zero-Point" as if it is
a free toy for only the elite like us to play with. The few of us who
have seen it not tapped, but merely "grazed" know we may be dealing
with energy beyond what BP got themselves into trouble with.

Could a zero budget inventor, in a basement or garage have any idea
what to do when the gates of the unknown suddenly burst open? Even a
meager budget, enough to rent commercial space and get out of the house
is not enough to handle such a surprise. Someone at Realm Industries
thought they could handle it. Obviously not.

Hydrogen still might be accessible cheaply from water. But until the
safety aspect is solved, and always handled properly, it is just as
tragic small inventors have to be the ones to suffer a fatality, while
big buck corporations, who have all the resources to establish a safe
R&D facility with safely skilled personnel, would rather blow
billions chasing faster profits than to pursue a fuel than would make
crude oil, and its dirty acquisition, totally obsolete.

(END OF COMMENT BY Ken Rasmussen)

Out of all the people killed dealing with hydrogen based research this is
the first one I believe was actually a legit accident. As for BP, well
according to this link below I must say your not fully informed on what
happened. Although who is to say that you should believe anything I say
is true. The right answers are only what you decide are the right
answers. Did you really think that we managed to have the largest
environmental catastrophe ever reported in the history of man on EARTH
DAY?  At least decide for yourself and don't let the media manage your
thought process for you. Maybe you should touch the surface of this
subject on your next show, oh wait... you can't. There has been a media
blackout ordered.

As for "profit motive" well lets just say I hope someone profits from creating a solution to the environmental hazard that fossil based
fuels has on the Earth. Fill er up. It would be better than BP's
ability to profit off of fuels full of carbon emissions.

   As for "Safety" well first things first;

Secondly, if cars ran on this "on board electrolysis" created when its demanded for type of readily available, renewable resource, clean burning,
carbon less, fuel there would never be another gas tank explosion to
worry about during the event of an auto accident. Water would merely
spill on the pavement.

Please correct me if I am mistaken, thank you. Kindly

Well written Richard!!

But, I find that as a former "Chief Investigator" of Police, (Ret.) I don't totally agree with the following statement: "Out of all the people killed dealing with hydrogen based research this is the first one I believe was actually
a legit accident".

I mean, really think about it, Isn't it amazing how many times over the past few years, the fire department or swat teams have been "By coincidence, just down the street on a training exercise when the explosion occurred and the officers were able to arrive on the scene within moments".

On a personal basis, I have intentionally caused numerous explosions while testing out the lids I developed for the Mason Jars, and after viewing the news videos, I find myself wishing I could have been "on the scene" soon after the explosion. There's something, (perhaps a gut feeling,) that just doesn't come together right.

I can't help but wonder how much paper-work had to be removed to assure that a fire didn't break out!!

My guess is that the research and development of HHO will soon be brought to an end, at least in CA. I would not be surprised a bit if there was a "emergency" meeting of the CA legistlators to pass a law to impose stringent regulations on experimenting with HHO.

With respect,

Walking Eagle
I feel proper training of the emergency team might have proven a better outcome. I have blown up several hho devices, and only gotten one blast from each. I understand structural safety to rescue personel, especially after seeing that video. But cum on someone could'v gone in rescued that man. I would have, even if it ment a subordination hearing.
As for safety, I don't see anyone trying this in their garage.

Hi guys

With respect to the man killed and those injured in the explosion.

I have one question:

1) Did this man attempt to compress orthro-hydrogen ?
