Good day, I'm looking for others working on the ACE.  It's a great design- friendly electrolyte, thermal and electrolytic inputs, nice clean h2 etc. However the efficiencies I'm getting are restricted by design issues, which I'd be happy to discuss at length with forum folks.  That said, the unit on my v-8 van works great, I miss it when its offline.  Thanks, Marc

I have built an ACE cell, and have ran some tests without the square wave electronic device to control the heat run away  I would like to know where I can purchase.a device  that will control the volts and square wave.  I would appreciate any help.  The tests I have run with the unit produces a plenty of hydrogen.

You can always change the format of your photos to something like a jpg. Saving photos in other formats can sometimes reduce size. Once it is in our system you can link to it in this discussion. Or you can load it up to Flickr.com and use this system http://hodinfo.com/photo/photo/newWithUploader to add from Flicker. It is best just to edit your photos down then load them straight into the discussion.

Marc, what I need is the electrical inverter (12 vdc input and 12vac output).  I bought two low frequency square wave oscillator modules and neither one performed as stated.  I would input 6 volts in and only get 4 volts out to the cell.  So I am wanting to know it anyone would tell me where to purchase an inverter that will perform as stated, or someone that would build one for me.  Electronics is my weak point in building the cell.  Thanks for the pics.

Hi Jim, I' m using Howard's power supply design.  It's simple  to build ( although it took me a year) , but not as simple as Martin's, perhaps he has shared it here.  The weakness of a relay design is the relays, and he's eliminated the relays and introduced pwm for efficiency.  After you see Martin's design you may find you can build it yourself, or ask Howard.  However the voltage demand of the cell will be low without more neutral plates to increase potential- 4 vcd may be enough, what are you drawing for amps?

OK folks... here is the "Martin ACE Cell Driver".

I claim nothing clever as it is just parts from EBay with some simple modifications.

It uses a LM358 square wave module with an additional transistor (and two resistors) added to create two inverting signals.

It uses a commercial H-Bridge module with a couple of diodes added to cheat the logic signals.

And a cheap buck converter so that you can run it from 6v to 27v so should cater for cars as well as trucks. The buck converter provides a steady 5v supply even though you may want to vary the input.

Just checked EBay... thy are now doing the H-Bridge modules to 43 Amps... Very useful.

How about another circuit for power switching a Howard Phillips ACE Cell.

It can be driven from the same astable multivibrator Howard specifies in his paper or the LM358 module detailed in my ACE2 Driver PDF document.

I make no claims as to the circuit... I found the basic schematic which had some fundamental layout errors, corrected them and then changed some values to suite our purpose.

D1, D2, D3, D4 = IN4004 diodes

Z1. Z2, Z3, Z4 = 10 volt 5 watt Zener diodes  

Top two MOSFETS are IRF5210 – P Channel 100V @ 40Amp

Bottom two MOSFETS are IRF1310N – N Channel 100V @ 40Amp

 

It can be driven using a basic astable multivibrator at Input1 and Input2

 

Using solid state switching around Hydrogen systems makes obvious sense... contact arcing may be a problem should a leak occur. Solid state switching also has no mechanical wear and tear like relay contacts will have and so should work for much longer duty cycles.
