Octane versu timing --Subaru Leagacy 2001 GX 2,5 NA

My vehicle specification is to use Octane AKI  inex of 87 as per manual .In my area the standard is 94.Question is ; should my timing be advanced or retarded to compensate the difference in octane ratings .My idle the STFT is above zero by 5 during idle   and the timing hovered between 7 .(Currently I used PC to change the timing offset and the idle sits now at 10 degrees during idle .)I have always felt my vehicle is slightly sluggish and burning RICH for most of the time .I am still…See More

"If by Caustic Soda you mean lye, NaOH, equal parts of it and Citric Acid (sometimes called Sour Salt) seem to be what George Wiseman of Eagle Research recommends for use with his electrolyzers.  I would think that a thorough flush (and back…"

Potassium Hydroxide - what is next best while I wait for KOH supply

Update on my current Subaru Legacy 2001 status.Received HydroclubUSA Kit which included the Volo chip V15 .I am actually completed the install - just a few things to do inside the car to neaten up - but engine plumbing side is all in and running .Due to the new Year with , no local supply of KOH 0rder placed which will only get delivered in a few days.My question is can I use another mix such as Caustic Soda or Bi-card just to get the dry-cell trickling .I am concerned that I would have to…See More

"The ECU continually adjusts to sensor inputs, so it will compensate in all of the cases you mention, or try to (and fail and light the Check Engine- the code will be enlightening, and give you an idea of where to start)"
